Rosa and I stopped by the Sasamat Outdoor Centre for their 1st annual dog focused fundraiserand I gotta say it was a pretty great turnout for a first time event. As soon as we arrived at the entrance and purchased our tickets we were given a glass of champagne and doggy bag full of fun human and doggy treats. Now that's an event I could go to more often. There was a great view of the lake and the dogs were welcome everywhere so they got to hang out with us no matter what kind of trouble we got into. I wish THAT was more common.

They had a great caricature artist there so Rosa couldn't pass that up. She says she does it for the dogs but they really didn't seem to care ;-)

Boneheads also had the privilege to be one of the sponsors so everyone that came got a free hike and a boneheads decal! Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to take up some new dogs to join in on all the fun. There were lots of great dogs and dog owners out to support the event and to generally have a great time.

We enjoyed a scrumptious meal for both human and our doggy friends as well as a great live band and lots of doggy entertainment. Door prices and auctions were aplenty (although we didn't win anything, fixed!) and even cupcakes and coffee at the end. Overall a fantastic little fundraiser with an abundance of potential for next year. Tip o' the hat to the whole crew. Great job all!

All proceeds went to support Sasamat Outdoor Centre's "Send a Kid to Camp!" which gives underprivileged children the opportunity to experience the fun and welcoming environment of Camp Sasamat!

There was lots of fun to be had - agility demos, live music and prizes - so next year come out and have a ball! Woof!

Check out the video below to see some of the dog agility and mayhem.

Over 350 people showed up to this years annual Mother's Day brunch. Me and Rosa were in attendance to help support this worthy cause which you can learn more about here. Hundreds of silent auctions including doggy toys, weekend getaways, gift certificates, art, food and wine, and of course a Boneheads adventure hike package to bid on. Congrats to all the winners. I'm sure PADS appreciates it!

Plus there was a live auction of more great trips, gift certificates, Canucks memorabilia (including a Gordy Howe signed hockey stick), local art work, plus a beautiful hand made patched quilt that went for an astounding $550! Kudos to the bidders! Rosa would have loved to have it but the bidding was pretty intense.

The actual brunch was fantastic. They served an assortment of salads, a full breakfast, cheeses and meats, muffins and scones. I went back for seconds on the fruit salad and scrambled eggs. Mmm Mmm. To start off the buffet PADS did a live auction that each individual table could bid on and the 2 top bids were chosen first and second. Great idea. After the auction all the other tables were chosen at random with tickets out of a bucket that was selected by one of the PADS dogs. Pretty versatile companions no doubt.

A very nice place setting and a great layout but they still manage to squeeze every inch out of the place with auction tables all around the outside. Notice the doggy hand towel gifts in the photo above? Over a 100 of those were made by a 8 year old volunteer! Great work.

For all you dog lovers that didn't get a chance or just weren't aware of the PADS brunch fundraiser they do it every year so make sure and mark it on the calendar for next years for their 14th annual event. Many smiling faces, tails wagging, bum sniffing, treats, demos, and of course we had to have a little bit of rain. But actually, we got quite a nice sunny break all afternoon, with scattered drizzles. But the show kept running.

It was so interesting to see such a variety of dogs, people, interests, products and services. I had a chance to meet people that came all the way from Seattle!! Poor Freud really worked for his dinner, he was a pretty popular boy. He was asked for pictures and autographs, lots of petting and scratching, and no nap time until we went back home at the end of the day. I guess he could've taken a break while we had lunch ... but he's such a princess that he can only lay his delicate little butt on soft fluffy surfaces and his ruthless mom didn't bring him one :$ But they both had a delicious meaty bone at night to reward them for their hard work and for behaving so nicely.

We hope you had a chance to enjoy it as much as we did. And if you didn't you should TOTALLY keep an eye out for next year's event! We also want to thank our friends that came and kept us company, support, and had the patience to hang out all day. Thanks Mark, Vanessa, and Christian!
Have you noticed on this photo that tiny little Chihuahua?? The owners of Boneheads are clearly experienced with dogs, and I know I can trust them 100% with my two furry babies Daisy and Carson! I used to drop them off at the daycare whenever needed, but found that they never really wanted to go in and were just overly happy to see me at night. With Boneheads, Carson and Daisy are just so excited to leave me in the morning, and they come back from the hikes well exercised and happy puppies! I highly recommend Boneheads for anyone who wants the best for their dog. Four paws up from Daisy and Carson!

New pawrtner!

Here are some shots of the progress.

Creating a fun design was quite a challenge. We had to learn how to use Illustrator, and man it's an amazing tool! Thanks again Jer for the excellent tutelage. It took also a big effort to figure the parts and pieces, for each color has to have it's own file (you can imagine how much fun it was to make the dog faces). But even better than that was the "fun" of putting the puzzle together and figuring which goes with what.

Once that was done, you put them on a giant roll of masking tape and cut the pieces out. Then the REAL fun starts, specially in rainy Vancouver, when you actually put it on the car. Wash, clean, wipe, spray, soap ... slap on the art piece. Work around the cracks and holes, get the bubbles out, take the masking tape off without getting the paint off the car ... tough.

It is not done yet, we are still in the process of cutting some of the vinyl we are missing. But now we understand why when we quoted the work externally it was soooo expensive. But it is custom made to our desire and it is loaded with love and dedication. Over all: great experience! :D
More pictures below...
